Natchez – More than 60 Adams County Youths participated in the first year of the Adams County Youth Rose Association, said Jthrell Irving, president of the group.

On Saturday, these young people were honored with a banquet at Pitchford Plaza.

Irving said the group starts in March and ends its Rodeo season in November.

“This year we had approximately 60 children and we are looking to make it more bigge,” he said. “We start at the age of 2 and continue until the age of 17. Me and several of my friends have come up with the idea of doing something positive in the community to help children make better decisions in life. So many children love the rodeo, so we went to the faith. “

The young people who participate should not have previous experience with horses or farm animals.

“That’s why we can learn them,” Irving said. “Some have experience and others do not. You do not need to live on a farm or in a rural setting to participate in Rodeo. We try to include children in something before they get into bad habits. “

The Adams County Youth Rose Association practices at Adams County’s equestrian arena for two or three nights a week.

“I’ve been involved with Rodeo for six years,” Irving said. “I love children and I would like to participate more children. Everything positive that makes our city a better place starts with children. I want them to do good at school and get into some positive activity. “

Irving said he also needed help from adults wishing to participate voluntarily their time, teaching young people of Adams County for Rodeo.

Those who are interested in signing their children for the next season or voluntarily help themselves with the Youth Roseo Association are asked to call Irving on 214-304-1364.

Irving thanked several organizations and persons who helped this first year by the Association of Youth Roseo of Adams County. They Include Miss-Lou Veterinary Clinic, Gamberi Feed and Farm Supply, Terry Briggs, Erica Singleton, Jalisa Bradford, Larry Hutchins, Joni Jing, Dontrel Y Stewart, Yvette Corner, Elbert Hughes, Jay Mitchell and Wardall Gaines, Jr.
