Oscar -winning actor Jean Hakman and his wife Betsy Arakawa were found dead at their home in New Mexico, along with their dog, Santa Fai’s sheriff office told CNN. He was 95.
Their causes of death have not been confirmed, but “the circumstances surrounding the death of the two deceased individuals (considered) are sufficiently suspicious in nature to require a thorough demand and investigation,” said the sheriff’s deputy, according to a search order received from a CNN KOAT branch.
The bodies of Hakman and Arakawa were first discovered by maintenance workers at their home, according to the application.
The MP said in the document that he had found Arakava lying on the ground inside a bath with an area of heater near her head and an open bottle of recipe for a countertop nearby. A dog was found dead in the closet in the bathroom.
Hakman’s body was found on the ground in another room near the kitchen. The deputy “suspected the male face (there were) suddenly fell,” the statement said. Both Hakman and Arakawa seem to have died days earlier, the deputy said.
Two other healthy dogs were found in other parts of the residence. The front door was open and unsecured and there were no signs of forced entry or theft.
The investigation has not found immediate signs of carbon monoxide leakage or natural gas leakage, according to the document.
The request for a search order has requested permission to seek any possible combustible materials, controlled substances, weapons, DNA and other potential evidence. It was not clear immediately whether more in -depth demand or what additional evidence may have been seized.
In his original public statement about death, Santa Fe Sheriff said, “Fausa game was not suspected as a factor in these deaths at the time.” A spokesman for the sheriff’s service said on Wednesday that they plan to issue an updated statement later during the day.
Medical examination reports with the final cause of death “usually take 4-6 weeks to generate,” said Chris Ramirez, a spokesman for a medical researcher in New Mexico.
CNN turned to Hakman’s representatives.
The actor’s death comes just days before the Academy Awards on Sunday.
Hakman’s performances in such films as “The French Link”, “Husers”, “Unptitled” and “The Company” have raised the characters in the leading man’s levels.
Hakman’s best roles were often conflicting authoritative figures or surprisingly smart villains with white collars, such as the iconic, evil Lex Lutor in the Superman movie series in the 1970s and 1980s. Many held a hint – sometimes more than a hint – from a threat.
He won an Oscar for his portrait in 1971. The French Connection by New York Cop Popa Doyle, a detective who receives his man but at a high price. His 1974 surveillance expert is unambiguous to the degree of mania, losing any perspective.
He won his second Oscar for his performance as Little Bill Dagett, the 1992 violent sheriff in Clint Eastwood, Unforgiven.
Colleagues celebrities and fans have begun to share a tribute on social media about the late Hollywood legend.
Oscar director Francis Ford Coppola, who works with a hackman in The Conversation, publishes: “The loss of a great artist always causes both mourning and celebration.”
“A great actor, inspiring and magnificent in his work and complexity. I mourn his loss and celebrate his existence and contribution, “Coppola wrote.
Actor and writer George Takay called Hakman “one of the real giants on the screen” in a social media publication.
“Jean Hakman could play anyone, and you could feel all your life behind him. He can be anyone and no one who is rising or everyday Joe, “Takay writes. “He will be missed, but his work will live forever.”
Hakman was 36 before breaking into Bonnie and Clyde in 1967, a role he received after losing the part of Mr. Robinson in the High School. Previously, he served in the Marines, struggled to earn a living in California and New York – sometimes with a roommate, the star of “graduate” Dustin Hoffman – and works with strange jobs, including a truck and a gate driver.

He effectively withdrew from acting at the age of 74. “Probably all is the end,” he told Larry King of CNN in 2004, and he did not take a subsequent work on the camera.
Hakman has lived in Santa Fe in recent decades with Arakava, a former classic pianist, has largely remained out of the public.
Hakman had three children he shared with his late ex -wife Fay Maltese, who died in 2017.
