ACC Basketball Power ranking: Virginia Tech rises after an impressive path – Fighting Gobbler

When we hit the middle point of the ACC basketball season, things get heated. This was the case over the weekend where we saw some close games, some stunning disorders and two rival games that had two different results.

After the dust settles, one thing remained clear and obvious, the Duke is the best team in the conference and downloads them, whether at home or on the road, will take an almost perfect game. The Blue Devils will get a difficult challenge for the road this week when they travel to play Clemson, who is the last team to ensure the first place for the ACC tournament next month.

What does the rest of the conference look like? Well, the results of the last seven days have caused some big shakes in the most powerful power charts. Let’s dive.

ACC Power Ranking for Men: February 3

After missing their first 10 ACC games, the hurricanes finally stormed the victory column, gathering to beat Notre Dame on Saturday night. This is a huge sigh of relief coming from South Florida.

The Eagles were also downloaded against Florida State on Saturday afternoon at home, but they took a miracle with a 3-chain from a single-point victory. Earl Grant and his team desperately needed it.

Things continue to go from bad to worse for Wolfpack, which are a losing series of six games. In their first four losses in the series, they lost two points from North Carolina, three points to Virginia Tech, three points to California and six points to Smo, with three of those losses coming home.

It’s still weird to see Cavaliers down this way, but they split their week last week, beating Miami on the road and then losing with a point at Virginia Tech’s home. Then? Monday night in Pittsburgh.

One step forward, two steps back to the Irish. In fact, this can be said for many ACC teams this season, but the loss in Miami after having a half -time lead will hurt. They stick to the condition of the sun and receive FSU on Tuesday night.

After losing in Stanford, Red Autry and his team bounced on Saturday night with a nice victory on the road in California. It was an identical journey that Virginia Tech had earlier this month.

What a brutal week for Leonard Hamilton and his team. After losing two games before the week in Stanford and Kal, Seminoles lags 20 points behind Virginia Tech by 20 points and couldn’t finish the second half, then lost to BC.

The yellow jackets withdrew the biggest disorder over the weekend when they removed Louisvil home on Saturday afternoon. Damon Studemir and his team will be difficult to play in the second half of the season, just ask Louisville.

The Golden Bears were behind Syracuse early on Saturday and could not complete the return, similar to what happened against Virginia Tech earlier this season.

The biggest bar this week is The Hokies after a couple wins on the road in Florida, which was the 400th victory in the career of coach Mike Young and win with a point in Virginia. Who thought Virginia Tech would be in the top 10 of the ranking in the middle of the conference season after the way the season began? I don’t think no one.

The Panthers made a two -point solution in Wake Forest on Saturday, and Jeff Capel and his team are still looking for a big victory for a summary for the NCAA tournament.

Tar Heels were directed by Duke in their first of two games this season and their hopes of the NCAA tournament seem to be fading from the week. This is not something that UNC fans are used to.

The cardinal beat Syracuse at home, but fell to SMU on Saturday before starting a two -game host this week with Wake Forest and North Carolina.

Deacons demons survived in Pittsburgh at home after being directed to Louisville. Now they are confronted with a huge two -game trip to Stanford and California this week, which can determine their hopes of the NCAA tournament.

Mistangs had victories over Kal and Stanford this last week and now they come to Blexburg for the first time as an ACC member on Wednesday night.

All the good things have to end at some point and that was the case when Cardinals won a series, but not many people made Georgia Tech click it. Again, conference games on the road are brutal, regardless of records.

The tigers took a road win at NC State on Saturday and now received two home games this week against Georgia Tech and Duke. Can a change of the top happen next week?

Not much to say here. The Blue Devils have taken care of North Carolina and will now stand up to their most difficult road to Clemson on Saturday after traveling to Syracuse on Wednesday night.
