The Grundy County Clerk’s office in Trenton said 57 people voted absentee during special hours Saturday morning ahead of Tuesday’s general election. This brings the total number of absentee ballots returned to the registry to 963.
An additional 13 ballots have been requested but not yet returned. The 963 absentee ballots received so far represent an increase of 76 over those returned by the Saturday before the last 2020 presidential election.
The Grundy County Clerk’s Office will have extended hours Monday, staying open until 6:00 p.m. to accommodate absentee voters. This is one hour longer than the schedule for absentee voting the day before the polls open.
