MANILA, Daggett County – A driver and his passenger were arrested after fleeing the police on Friday afternoon.
According to a booking affidavit, Garth Stringer, 53, was pulled over on State Route 43 at 5th East after police noticed his black Chevrolet Silverado had a fake license plate.
When asked for his license, registration and proof of insurance, the affidavit said Stringer did not acknowledge the matter and refused to exit the vehicle. The affidavit states that Stringer said, “We’re not doing this again,” and drove off.
Uintah County Sheriff’s deputies chased him past the Wyoming border on Wyoming Highway 414 and eventually used a strip to stop Stinger’s truck.
Police said they searched the vehicle and found marijuana and drug paraphernalia along with a loaded firearm on the driver’s side floor.
Both Stinger and his passenger, Brittany Stevenson, 41, were transported to the Uintah County Jail, according to the affidavit.
