A Tank Ride: Greater Baton Rouge State Fair – WBRZ

BATON ROUGE – For the past 60 years, the Greater Baton Rouge State Fair has provided a fun and exciting atmosphere for all in attendance. Did you know that everything is for charity?

Cliff Barton, GBRSF president, has been a volunteer at the fair since 1973. He says everyone who serves on the board planning the fair year-round is a volunteer. Much of the proceeds are channeled back into the community through scholarships, grants and sponsorships.

This year the GBRSF introduced some fun, new attractions such as a dog show and a comedy show. There is live music every night with different local artists and a few other things to keep you entertained for hours!

“There’s just something about coming out here, smelling the food, hearing people having fun and laughing, riding the rides … it just makes you feel like a kid again,” Barton said.

Of course, all the games and rides you grew up with are still there too. Some crowd favorites on the first night seemed to be the Ferris wheel, the giant swing and the spinning wheel. The cuff will give you access to all the rides your heart desires!

GBRSF tickets are $15 at the door and the last day to attend is November 3rd. Click here for more details.
