Reno, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) – Police have released a body camera from a dramatic firing linked to an officer who happened at the Redna Hospital in early February.
The incident unfolded on February 9, when the Sparks Police Department sought help from the Renault Police Department to arrest the Cup’s Kea, who was wanted to shake a woman with a gun earlier that morning. The victim is hospitalized with severe injuries.
Authorities report that Ke’A is armed and considered both murder and suicide. Employees found him near the 9th and the streets of Montello, but he fled to Seatro St., the pursuit continued as Ke’A was driving to Wales in Wales at high speed, ignoring police commands to stop.
The pursuit, shot on the footage of the body’s camera, shows that Ke’A releases multiple red lights and almost causing several crashes before arriving in the Renown Speed Room parking lot. Ke was seen driving in circles, waving an unknown object out the window and heading to oncoming traffic and patients near the entrance to the hospital.
Officers can be heard in the video that instructs Ke’A to raise his hands or face shot and bitten by an K9 officer. Police said Ke’A ignored these commands and reached for a gun. Fearing their safety and that of others, the officers fired more than a dozen shot at Ke’A.
After the shooting, the officers provided immediate help and found a loaded 9mm pistol with an extended magazine with 30 rounds in Ke’a’s hand. The footage shows that Ke’A is pulling on the car driver side and rushed to the hospital for treatment. He died of his injuries six days later.
All employees involved in the shooting have been put on paid administrative leave in anticipation of an investigation by the sheriff of Washo County. The findings will be sent to the District Prosecutor’s Office of Washoe County for review.
