Birmingham, Ala. (WBRC) – The city of Birmingham demolished a condemned home at Collegeville on Monday.

Birmingham Councilor Jt Moore said the structure that descends is a sigh of relief for the locals.

“This is a sigh of relief that they do not have to sit on their front porch now and watch something that brings them discomfort or just lower the value of the property in the area,” Moore said.

The average price for demolishing this type of structure is $ 7,000.

In order to continue the destruction, the officials must first establish that the building has been convicted.

“I know that many times the residents will see these structures and say, these are eye pain, but from a city’s perspective, we want to make sure we make our role in order to avoid any time of responsibility,” Moore said.

The area in which the most demanding demolition took place is only steps from the historical Baptist Church Betel. Moore said it was important not only for neighbors but also for tourists to see a well -maintained community.

“This is a strong traffic area. We want to make sure that when people enter our city, we put our best leg forward and people are able to see the best from Birmingham, “Moore said.

Once the homes disappear, Moore hopes the land will be re -established for more homes.
