A prisoner from Virginia Beach accused of performing credit card fraud while in prison – Virgin Pilot

Virginia Beach, a prison prison, accused of using information about the stolen credit card for buying items from the dining room of the facility, has been charged with numerous crimes, according to the sheriff’s office.

Carrine Walter Rayer was charged with six conspiracy for credit card fraud, two identity theft and prisoners’ violation. The total stolen amount was over $ 1,000, according to a message from the sheriff’s office.

A person accused of assisting Rayer in receiving information about the stolen credit card from the Internet has also been charged.

The investigation began at the end of December after the canteen’s supervision began to suspect fraud and contacted the Sheriff’s Criminal Intelligence Division, according to the statement. Prisoners can buy items such as food, games and extra clothes from the dining room.

Rayer often put orders in the names of other prisoners in an attempt to deflect suspicion, the announcement said. He will then keep the items for himself or sell them at a higher price using a money application. Prisoners are able to access the Internet through tablets in their cells that they have to pay to use.

In a recorded telephone conversation in the prison, Rayer said there was a plan to earn extra money and plans to use the money to publish the bonds, the message said. Rayer has been in the city prison since November, when he has been booked in numerous pieces of counterfeits, identity fraud, and receiving money through false claims.
