A prisoner facing charges of murder, by mistake, released at the Bus Station brought back to custody – WBRZ

Baton Rouge – East Baton Rouge’s sheriff’s service returned a man accused of murder, back in custody after the parish official East Carol, by mistake, left him to go free.

Christopher Davis was arrested in January 2023 for shooting a man on Edwin Street after a dispute.

He was left at a bus station in Baton Rouge after being brought to the Northeast Louisiana capital.

According to employees, it is not known why Davis was left at the bus station and East Carrol Parish has notified the employees after the fact. WBRZ contacted East Carrol Parish employees and expects an answer.

Officials also said that Davis was not planned to return to East Batton Rouge until March 17 for a court date. East Batton District Prosecutor Ruzh Hilar Moore said Davis had been transported to the parish prison East Baton Rouge, along with other East Carol prisoners, who must be released at the station.

Neither Ebraso nor the district prosecutor’s office knew that Davis had been moved to the parish prison, according to Moore. Moore says it is not clear why Davis was transported almost two months before the date of the court.

Davis’s family talks to WBRZ, saying that they are worried not only about Davis’s safety but also about their safety.

“We worry about him because this is my son, who would not worry about his children if he loves them?” Said a family member.

The family said he did not know about the apparent release of Davis until the deputies appeared at their home, looking for him.

“They said we don’t have it, one says one, another [is saying] Another thing, we try to understand what is happening, is it adjusted? “

However, they were also confused by how Davis was released.

“Why did you let him go first? You all tell us that he should not have been released, but he was released, you all did a big hiccup,” said a member of the Davis family. “When your protocol is to pick up a van and drive [him] At EBR Parish Prison and the prison releases [him]But you let you [him] From the bus station, he did not escape, you all let him go. “

East Baton Rouge parish prison officials said Davis was detained on Sunday night.

East Carroll Parish employees have not yet answered WBRZ’s request for comment.
