Las Vegas, Nev. (FOX5) – A new housing development coming to the Las Vegas Valley is called the first ever South Nevada, offering resources to those with challenges to mental health or those who avoid homelessness.
The complex of 50 units, managed by the regional residential administration of South Nevada, is built by Boulevard Charleston and Avenue Nelis.
Residents receive residential vouchers through Snrha.
The UNLV Health Mojave Consultation Clinic will control healthcare for residents. Residents can receive psychiatric services, medical care and medicines and have access to 40 hours of managing cases a week.
“We didn’t have this type of project in South Nevada, so this is a new idea – but it is not new to the country and it’s a model that works,” says Jason Schwartz, Director of UnlV Health to support the Mojave Council Adult Community Psychiatry. There are many models of “maintenance housing” across the country.
“Some of these people will need support and by having the support there, we create an environment and opportunity for people to live the highest level of social functioning they are capable of,” Schwartz said, noting that without these services, people with Various injuries cannot live up to their most potential.
Residents will have a lease and pay rent; They can come and go as residents in a typical apartment, but there will be limited access to entry, Schwartz said.
The Coordinated Life of South Nevada, a non -profit partner of Ovation, will provide assistance such as food closet services. Other amenities include computer stations, Wi-Fi, community collection space and community kitchen.
The Tick Segerblom chair tells Fox5 that he hopes he can be a model in the Las Vegas Valley and would be ideal to have ten of them throughout the county.
“This is a magnificent construction facility and there is no reason not to be duplicated throughout the valley,” said Segerblom.
“After we can show that it works, then it would be difficult for someone to say,” Well, not in my backyard, “he said.
According to SNRHA, after the project was approved for employment in early 2026, residents could start moving in February 2026.
