The organization purchased the property on Lafayet Street near Hilton and Hotel Indigo by Trahan Properties III LLC for $ 850,000, according to the agreement filed on Thursday with the parish official of East Baton Rouge.

Visit the president and CEO of Baton Rouge Jill Kyder was the buyer, and Victor Trahan III represents the seller. Trahan Properties purchased the building for $ 900,000 in 2005.

VBR has signed a purchase agreement in September to buy a building, which has been free for decades and lacks a roof.

The group was looking for a new building as it has grown its present space on 3rd street, the organization’s home for nearly 20 years.

The new building is close to double the size of nearly 7,000 square feet on 3rd street.

The State Bond Committee approved VBR’s request last year to look for a $ 7 million loan to buy and renovate the building.

VBR said Daily report In September, the design and renovation phase will begin after the purchase is over. If everything goes according to plan, the project will be completed in 2026.
