A new fire class rating given to West Baton Rouge; Housing owners can benefit – wafb

West Baton Rouge Parish, La. (WAFB) – West Baton Rouge homeowners can soon see savings of their real estate insurance premiums thanks to a new fire protection rating.

After working for years to consolidate six Western parish fiery wards of parishes in one of the last and most influential tracks, he has fallen into place; The upgrade of their social security for the protection of fire protection to Class 3.

“The department had no resources or staff to manage five different estimates,” Browning explained. “It was really the time to change this, and it was one of the visions of consolidation, so it was certainly a big victory for the parish.”

The updated result comes after improvements in areas such as staff training, response opportunities, fire prevention program and the parish water system. It will also give homeowners from 10 to 25% savings of their annual property insurance premiums.

However, Browning believes that there is still room for improvement.

“The evaluation basically tells a story and shows where the needs in the fire department are, and this is a very accurate assessment through insurance agencies for what they expect,” Browning explained.

Its purpose is to get from the Class 2 rating, but he believes this is a good step forward.

“This department is on the move and I really think it is being built for the future,” Browning said. “They have always done a great job by matching the call. We just try to grow with the parish. “

These insurance premium savings begin on March 1st.
