A mother arrested after leaving a child outside a restaurant, according to Larendo police – KGNS

Laredo, Texas (KGNS) – Laredo police responded to a report on a lost child in the 2900 block of Avenue San Bernardo on Sunday, February 2, at 8:50 am a good Samaritan found a child, about 5-7 old, outside a restaurant Asking for his mother and says she is hungry. The Samaritan stayed with the child until officers arrived and the paramedics checked the child.

Employees tried to find the child’s home and the child brought them to a possible address. About an hour later, the mother of the child, 36-year-old Clarice Gonzalez, appeared.

Gonzalez was arrested and accused of abandonment/endangering a child with the intention of returning. Employees found her home in a bad condition without food and gave her baby food. They also contacted the childcare services (CPS) who took the child to care.

During the arrest, officers say they have found Gonzalez drugs, leading to another accusation of possession of a controlled substance PG3 C/A. CPS is now investigating the situation.
