Miami (WSVN) – Two former Miami firefighters – have surrendered to the authorities, months after resigning from the department against the backdrop of an investigation into a fatal training exercise that took the lives of one of their sons.

Francisco Camero and Rafael Fernandez are accused of murder and guilty negligence on Friday.

Camero is one of the three former fire rescue officials in Miami-Dadd who resigned from the department against the investigation of the death of his 28-year-old son, Fabian Camero, after June an exercise in a three-storey building in Virginia Gardens confused with the wrong S

Investigators said the firefighters were in the middle of the exercise when someone added too much fuel to what should be a small fire for a tar designed for demonstration.

Detectives said Fabian was not a firefighter. He was taken to the hospital after the incident, where he died a day later.

The arrest report provides new details about what unfolds. The report states that the people who set fire to the barrels were Camero and Fernandez. It was added to a building that was not approved for training involving a small fire.

In addition, the report states that Fabian and his brother Lorenzo are said to remain in a room adjacent to the place where the barrel is set on fire.

Lorenzo told detectives that at one point the smoke spread quickly and his brother collapsed to the ground right next to him.

When the fire rescue arrived in the building, they asked Fernandez if anyone was inside to search and rescue, but he told them to control the fire.

In the end, crews entered the building to find Fabian unconscious and not breathe.

In court, Cabrera asked for a lower connection.

“What do you ask the court, Mr. Cabrera>,” said Miami-Dade Circuit Mindy S. Glazer judge.

“I wanted a less connection. Something different from $ 30,000, “he said.

“I want to say it was an incident. He did not intend his son to be killed, “Glazer said.

Both men got a relationship as the judge said they did not intend to kill Fabian.

Mayor of Miami-Dad Daniela Levine Kava called for a full investigation into the incident. The incident remains in the process of investigation.
