57-year-old Mark Grant of Winson Green Road will appear in the Birmingham Magistrate Court on Monday.
He is also charged with violating a restrictive order.
He followed an incident of Soho Road on Friday afternoon when a woman suffered injuries after an alleged attack.
The SOHO ROAD BID security staff (Business Improvement District) detained a suspect on Friday and then the employees arrested him and took him to custody.
Sergeant Greg Lamitis, the head of the Lozells East Handsworth neighborhood team, said: “We are working closely with Soho BID and other partner and support agencies to help deal with crime and antisocial behavior in the Lozells and Handsworth regions.”
