A man from Lues accused of attachment to a victim of disabilities – WBOC TV 16

Newark, De-Lewes Man, is faced with a reported armed robbery involving a victim with disabilities in the parking lot of a hotel in New Castle.

Delaware state police claim that a disabled man was sitting in his car near the Sonesta Suites of Chapman Road in Newark when the 44 -year -old Jarad Hammond asked him if he needed help with his wheelchair around 10am on Friday. When the victim said no, the authorities claim that Hammond threatened him with a knife and told him to get out of the car.

The victim is said to have got out of her car and in his wheelchair and tried to call 911. The Lyez man chases after the victim, threatens it with the knife again and asked for the keys, says DSP. Investigators say the victim had complied with and the suspect had drove into the victim’s car.

We are told that the victim was not injured.

The troops searched the area and found the car a short distance. Troopers have been reported to have discovered Hammond at the University Plaza shopping mall. He was removed without incidents.

Authorities say the soldiers found the victim’s keys during a search of Hammond. They say during a car search, the soldiers found knives.

Hammond was taken to squad 2 where he was charged with:

  • Robbery 1st degree (crime)
  • Possession of a deadly weapon during committing a crime (a crime)

He was appointed by the Court of Justice of Mira 2 and is committed to Howard R. Young’s correctional institution for a $ 50,000 cash bond.
