Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under the name of “staff.” Often, the byline of “staff” is used when rewriting basic news stories that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and that require little or no reporting. Sometimes this byline is used when a news story involves multiple authors or when the story is formed by summarizing previous news stories from different sources. If external sources are used, this is noted in the story.
