A man found in a car upside down in the woods about an hour after a crash in Garland – Vabi

Garland, Maine (Wabi) – Dexter’s Fire Department says the man is lucky to be alive after he has struck his car in Garland Wednesdsay in the afternoon.

Rescue crews say they were called on the Grille Road around 2:00 pm.

It is said that an 85-year-old man was driving alone when he crashed. He managed to find his phone and call his wife, telling her he was head down somewhere along the way.

Dexter Fire, Garland Fire and Penobscot County Sheriff responded, but initially couldn’t find the crash. The crews say they have combed the area before they finally find the scene that they say is far from the road and obstructed by the car mixed with the surrounding area.

They are told that the husband told them he had been there for about an hour.

Firefighters say this is another case that proves that seat belts are saving life.
