A man arrested in Laredo’s second murder of 2025 – KGNS

Laredo, Texas (KGNS)-One month after Laredo’s first murder, police are investigating shooting that killed a 31-year-old man over the weekend.

28-year-old Alberto Canta remains in the County of Web Prison for alleged shooting and killing Angel Morales on Sunday morning, February 9th.

According to police, the incident was reported at about 3:30 in the 200 block of East Saunders. When paramedics arrived, they found Morales, who had a firearm in the head and was declared dead in place.

Less than 12 hours later, detectives with crimes against the Persons Department were able to identify and arrest Canta. Jose Espinosis with Laredo police says investigators are gathering the moments leading to the shooting together.

“There is even more about this murder, this is an active investigation and employees are still cooperating with this investigation into the murder. This happened at the business site, so they talk with possible witnesses or from another person who may have seen the appearance of this murder. “

Police also claim to have found several evidence, including the pistol that is said to have been used in the case. Canta was brought for questioning the same day and was arrested and accused of murder.

Neighbors who talked to outside the camera say there have been problems with violence in criminal activity in the past.
