A look at the expected weather in the battleground states on Election Day – Las Vegas Sun

Weather conditions can be one factor in how many people vote in person on Election Day.

The worst weather in the US forecast for Tuesday is in Montana, where there could be blizzards, but the state is not a battleground state and is heavily favored for Donald Trump.

Key battleground states, including Michigan and Wisconsin, are expected to see little precipitation.

Here are the Election Day predictions for the seven most contested states.

Nevada

Temperatures in the upper 60s (15.6-20.6 C) are expected across the state. Las Vegas could approach 70 (21 C) and Reno will be in the mid 50s (teenage low). In the high places in the morning the temperatures will be around 20 degrees (about minus 5 degrees), and in the afternoon they will warm up.

Arizona

Phoenix and Tucson and many other regions of the state will see temperatures in the 60s (15.6-20.6 C) to the low 70s (low 20s C). In the northern regions there will be lower temperatures. The state will be mostly dry, with light precipitation possible near the Utah border.

Georgia

In Georgia, temperatures are expected to be in the mid 70s (around 23 C) to 80s (high 20 C). Southwestern parts of the state could see light rain late Tuesday.

Michigan

Temperatures will be above normal in Michigan with southern parts of the state in the 70s (21-26 C). Detroit could see temperatures in the 70s (about 25 C). A few thunderstorms are possible in lower Michigan later in the day. The Upper Peninsula will see temperatures in the 50s (10-15 C) and 60s (15.6-20.6 C) and about 0.5 inches (1.3 centimeters) of rain.

North Carolina

Temperatures are expected to be in the mid 70s to 80s (mid 20s), with a few showers possible in western parts of the state.

Pennsylvania

No precipitation is expected in Pennsylvania. Temperatures will be in the 70s to 80s (mid-20s C) in some western regions, including Pittsburgh.

Wisconsin

Much of central and eastern Wisconsin will be in the 60s (15.6-20.6 C). Temperatures will be closer to 45 or 50 degrees (about 8 C) near the Minnesota border. Conditions will be humid throughout the day. The northern half of the state could see about 0.5 inches (1.3 centimeters) of rain, with less expected in the southern half.

Weather across the country

Most of Tuesday’s precipitation is expected in the central United States, where showers and thunderstorms are possible. In addition to possible blizzards in western Montana, snow is also forecast for parts of Idaho, eastern Washington and Oregon. Calm weather is expected in the northeast Atlantic and southwest. California’s cool, dry weather raises wildfire fears.

These forecasts come from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Weather Prediction Center.
