A veteran from the dining industry opens a restaurant focused on dishes inspired by South Dakota in downtown Siu Falls.

Devon Gisen and his wife, Ashley, open Rivage Oak Kitchen in the restaurant space on the first floor in the original office building in Cherapa Place.

An ode to the food and the drinks that will keep their last meal in the space on Saturday is moving elsewhere in the city center, which is finalized.

For Gisen, the space is the chance to open a restaurant in a place where she hopes to serve guests for years. He and Ashley also own Invictus Pizza Kitchen, which opened at 3901 W. 49th St. At the end of 2023

“I was in an Ode and I had a meeting and as I left, (the co -owner of the building) Anne (Haber) happened at the entrance and so we have to talk about the potential to move to space,” Gisen Gisen, “Gisen Gisen,” Gisen Gisen Gisen “, Gisen Gisen,” Giesen said. “The building is beautiful. The inner courtyard is beautiful. I love everything about space. “

Rivage aims to reflect how the building sits at the end of the Big Ciu River, while the oak is intended as a reference to the forest. Rivage Oak plans to focus on the menu inspired by southern Dakota ligaments, including Pheasant, Walleye and Bison.

“We want this sense of villa,” Gisen said. “This will be a decent redness. We will refresh ourselves a little. It will be a warm sense of a villa with a slightly darker tree, a slightly more grown stone on some of the walls. “

The restaurant will start serving lunch and dinner, but it plans to expand to breakfast. This will not be too big a menu – think from the front and back of the page, he said.

“We will try to use locally equipped bread like Breadico and some of the meat cabinets in the city and work with some of the brewery in South Dakota,” Gisen said.

“So this pleasant, superb, comfortable food at a nice price point where we hope someone will come and enjoy food there, but it will be a very good place for dinners. This will be something I think not many restaurants around come when it comes to South Dakota dishes. “

The plan is to change the shape of the tape, but otherwise leave the layout the same and later expand the courtyard.

“It’s a phenomenal courtyard,” Gissen said. “It does not respect anyone, but I think it is not used dramatically where it is.”

In addition to Invictus, Giesen spent much of his career with Granite City Food & Brewry and helped prepare the Tavern grille to detect at Sioux Falls.

The hope is to start construction soon and be prepared to open Rivage Oak Kitchen until July.

“With a beautiful new campus, we are really excited to raise new energy in the space,” says Anne Haber, a co -owner of construction developers Pendar Properties. “These are experienced restaurateurs with a strong concept. It’s time and we think our tenants will be really excited about it. “

This is the second new restaurant announced this year by Cherapa Place. Cafe Breadico is planned to be opened in the coming months in the neighboring Bancorp building.
