A former South Carolina Prison Officer, convicted after bribery, a drug scheme – WBTV

Salters, SC (WBTV) – A former South Carolina Prison Correctioner was recently condemned for his role in a bribery scheme and medicines.

Federal Justice officials said that 51-year-old Angela Crasland was convicted of bribery, money laundering, distribution of methamphetamine and suboxone and filing fake income tax declarations. She was found guilty by the jurors after two days in a trial.

As she worked in prison, judicial evidence revealed that Celsland smuggling prisoners in exchange for money. Officials said smuggling includes several types of illegal drugs, tobacco, food and other subjects.

“Her corrupt actions threaten the safety and security of the entire facility,” said federal investigator Eric Folman.

US lawyer Adir Ford Boros said Crossland’s behavior damaged confidence and threatens the safety of prisoners.

“Those who work in a public service, especially law enforcement and adjustments, must be held to a higher standard,” Borose said. “Crosland’s actions harm our confidence in our prison systems while compromising the safety of Williamsburg FCI staff and prisoners.”

A message on February 3 said Crossland would be condemned after a judge reviewed a report before a sentence from the United States Probation Service.
