The Utah Hockey Club is a step closer to having a permanent nickname and it will not be “Yeti” or “Yeti”.
Greg Wishrinski of ESPN announced on Wednesday that the team would no longer look at these two nicknames, despite the fact that Yethis was once considered a possible choice of franchise.

The property decided to leave it to the fans who attend the next four home games by voting. The three last choices will be the hockey club in Utah, Utah Mamut and Utah Wasach.
The main reason why the name “Yeti” was rejected was due to the conflict with Yeti Coolers LLC. USPTO stated that this was a “probability of confusion”.
“We were deeply committed to Cother Company and worked with them through a process to see if there was any joint existence agreement to commit to them,” said Mike Mogan of Smith Entertainment Group. “They have a unique and strong trademark for everything published Yeti or Yeti. We did not have an agreement on joint existence with Yeti, so we decided to continue by that name.”
The name of the Utah hockey club would have been transferred from the opening season of the team, with hockey -president Chris Armstrong confirms that the interim nickname was always intended to be part of the ongoing discussion of a permanent one.
Mammoth was one of the six finalists in last year’s fans’ vote, while “Wasatch”, which mentions the Wasatch mountain range on Utah, was not part of the options. However, Wishinski said “Wasatch” essentially served as a willingness for “Yeti”, as Maugan mentioned that the talisman would be a “mythical snow -form of Yeti.”
In addition to the three choices, fans will also vote for two logos: one is intended for the nickname of Mammoth and the other either for a hockey club or Wasatch, including a Yeti -like creature.
As the branding discussions rise, Utah is against the background of Campaign 21-21-7, currently sitting sixth in the central division. With 49 points, they are only six points behind Calgary flames for the final wild card space at the Western Conference, maintaining their hopes for playoffs.
However, they have won only five of their last 17 games after the promising start of 16-11-5. Their next match is a home slope against Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday – the first opportunity for fans to vote for the new nickname of the team.
