A deadly crash near DC stops flights to and from Btr – Loesiana Leaders React – Brproud.com

Baton Rouge, La. (First Louisiana) – Louisiana officials express their condolences after the tragic clash between a passenger plane of American Airlines and an army helicopter near Washington, Colombia County, which led to 67 deaths.

The incident happened on Wednesday night when a Flight of American Airlines from Wichita, Kansas, approached the Ronald Reagan National Airport. The Black Hawk UH-60 army helicopter is reported to have entered the flight path of the plane, leading to a collision in the middle above the Potomak River. All 60 passengers and 4 crew members, as well as 3 soldiers aboard the helicopter, died in the incident.

In response to the tragedy, a spokesman for Baton Rouge in Sofia announced that flights to and from Washington, Colombia County, were canceled for Thursday. Passengers are urged to consult their airlines for recurrent options.
