BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – In preparation for Tuesday’s Election Day, the Birmingham FBI has set up a command center to address or evaluate any election-related threats in our area.
The FBI and local law enforcement are working together to protect your right to vote.
The command post operates 24 hours a day and will be used to collect and analyze information to determine whether individuals may be motivated to take violent action for any reason, including elections.
The FBI is prepared to respond to a range of potential scenarios related to election fraud, voter suppression, cyber attacks and threats.
Additionally, in partnership with the Department of Justice, an Election Threat Task Force was formed to identify and address reported threats targeting election officials.
The FBI says it takes all threats of violence very seriously.
While you’re at the polls and voting, the FBI is asking voters to say something if they see suspicious activity.
