TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – After months of candidates inundating voters with ads and text messages in an attempt to win their votes, it’s finally time to vote.
Many Leon County residents have already voted. As of noon Monday, the Leon County Chief Election Officer had received more than 110,000 ballots, with more than 76,000 of them coming from early voters. As of Monday, the county reported a 59 percent voter turnout.
Early voting ended Sunday in Leon County. But the remaining 41 percent of registered voters in the Capital District still have one more chance to vote: Election Day, which is Tuesday.
Groups will be open in Leon County on Tuesday, Nov. 5, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m
The Leon County Supervisor of Elections is urging residents to check their polling place online. You can do so by clicking here. You can also view your sample newsletter at this link.
When you show up to vote, don’t forget to bring your ID card. On arrival, a polling officer will ask you to confirm your name and address before giving you your ballot.
It’s not too late to submit your postal ballots. The head of the election office receives them until 7 p.m. on the election day. Although it is too late to attempt to mail the ballot, voters can still hand deliver completed vote-by-mail ballots to the Elections Office at 2990-1 Apalachee Parkway.
Family members are also allowed to drop off ballots for postal voting.
If you can’t make it to your polling place on Election Day, you have two options, according to the Supervisor of Elections:
- You can go to the polling center at 2990-1 Apalachee Parkway to vote on an emergency basis.
- You can have a family member pick up the postal ballot for you.
The supervisor of the election office notes that the second option has special requirements: “To vote this way, voters must state the reason why they cannot vote at their usual polling place. A family member can also be designated to pick up the voter’s Vote by Mail voter for them with a completed application form.”
