This Saturday, November 9, 2024, Lubbock will come alive with pride, patriotism and gratitude as Los Hermanos Familia is hosting the 9th Annual Veterans Parade. This event is a heartfelt tribute to the men and women who have dedicated their lives in service to our country, and everyone is invited to join in the celebration!
Did you know that there are approximately 19 million veterans in the US, which is less than 10% of the senior population? Currently, only 1% of Americans serve in the military. This statistic reminds us how important it is to honor those who have sacrificed so much for our freedom.
The theme of this year’s parade is “I Pledge Allegiance,” highlighting generations of families who continue to serve our nation with dignity and pride.
The parade will begin at the First Baptist Church, located at Broadway and Avenue W, and proceed east on Broadway to Avenue M, where it will then head north. Veterans, their family members, marching bands, floats and community members are encouraged to participate and show their support.
The 2024 Grand Marshal is retired Fire/Marine Chief Sean Fogerson! Fogerson’s tenure with Lubbock Fire Rescue began in 1992, while he also served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1988 to 1996 after being deployed during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
Fogerson quickly rose through the ranks at LFR, being promoted to equipment operator in 1999, lieutenant in 2002, captain in 2008, battalion chief in 2012 and deputy chief in 2015. In 2019 Mr. Fogerson has been appointed LFR Fire Chief.
He retired on May 3, 2024 after 31 years of service to the city of Lubbock
This is a fantastic opportunity to come together as a community and honor our veterans and their families. Your presence matters and it’s a chance to express gratitude for the sacrifices made on our behalf. Let’s make this Veterans Day Parade an unforgettable celebration of honor, respect and unity in Lubbock!
