Exploring the Evolving Landscape of Media Coverage: PRSA Central Chesapeake Chapter Event – Eye On Annapolis

As digital platforms change the media landscape, public relations professionals face a pressing question: Does traditional media coverage still hold the same value in today’s world of content-driven engagement? To address this, the PRSA Central Chesapeake Chapter is hosting an in-depth panel discussion on Tuesday, November 12, at 5:30 p.m., featuring PR and media veterans who will explore how organizations can effectively capture the public interest in 2025 .

Key topics: From traditional media to strategic owned content

The panel aims to offer insights into contemporary PR challenges, particularly as newsrooms face downsizing and digital strategies continue to evolve. Panelists will discuss whether owned media – content created and controlled by an organization – now takes precedence over traditional earned media coverage in reaching target audiences. Participants will learn proven strategies for media engagement, as well as the practices that experienced journalists believe are important for successful event coverage.

This session is tailored for communications professionals who want to understand the current media landscape and adjust their approaches to deliver impactful presentations. The discussion will include a question-and-answer session with panelists who bring decades of industry experience in broadcast, digital and strategic communications.
