TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – As the final hours before Election Day tick by, poll workers are busy preparing.
Some of those election workers headed to the Leon County Superintendent of Elections early Monday to pick up supplies and get an update before the big day.
One poll worker, Lorraine James, said she has been helping voters on Election Day for more than 20 years.
This year she will be a site employee, meaning she will be in charge of the entire facility.

James explained why he returns year after year.
“It’s important because it helps ensure that our democracy remains strong,” she said. “Everybody’s voice matters, and this is our way and America’s way of making sure it matters.”
She said she appreciates her role in this democratic process.
“So it’s my job and my love to make sure that stays in place,” James said.
Billy Wells has more than a decade of experience as a poll worker and he will also be the clerk on Election Day. He said the work fulfills him.
“It makes me feel pretty good,” he said. “At least I can say I did my civic duty by helping everyone be able to vote.”
