Manhattan man critically injured in shooting, self-defense may be a factor: RCPD – AOL

MANHATTAN (KSNT) – The Riley County Police Department (RCPD) has released an update on a shooting that happened late Wednesday night in Manhattan.

RCPD said shortly before 8 p.m. on Oct. 9, officers responded to the 900 block of Yuma Street for reports of shots fired. Police determined a 23-year-old Manhattan man had been shot in a nearby parking lot.

The man was taken to an area hospital, where he was transported to a Topeka hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

RCPD said the shooter, a 26-year-old man, is believed to have acted in self-defense. Police said there is believed to be little or no relationship between the two individuals.

RCPD said this is an ongoing investigation and more details will be provided as they become available.
