Beasley Media Group staff cuts continue as APD and morning host Mean Jean Fremont have left Detroit’s classic hip-hop station 105.1 The Bounce.
Fremont posted on Instagram: “They say all good things come to an end and that includes my time at BOUNCE and in Detroit. My position at Beasley Media was eliminated and Thursday was my last day with the company. Over the past two years, we’ve laughed, cried, celebrated, and done a lot of really dope stuff. Kudos to Shannon Renee for being a star for welcoming me (when the first day we met was my first day at work) and helping me make my job easier every day by being such a professional! Doing a morning show was never my goal, but I’m glad I had the opportunity to do it in this city with Shannon as my partner in crime. I never thought I would go from afternoons in Knoxville to mornings in Detroit, but it happened and it still blows my mind. Kudos to the amazing city of Detroit for embracing me, being on the show and the positive feedback. Thanks to all my colleagues for embracing me and helping me become better in every aspect of my job. I got to do a lot of really stuff (I never thought it was in the plans for me) and got involved with a lot of drugs that I will never forget. I’ll be around for most of the month, but I’m excited to spend more time with my family in Florida while I figure out what’s next. With how 2024 has turned out, this is certainly needed. All love, always.”
Fremont joined WMGC-FM in October 2022. He began his career at Rhythmic CHR 102 Jamz WJHM, later rebranding to CHR 101.9 Amp Radio WQMP in Orlando.
In addition to his time at WQMP, Fremont spent time at Cox Top 40 Power 95.3 and had two separate stints at SummitMedia’s Hip Hop Hot 104.5 WKHT in Knoxville, TN.
He was originally the late-night host from 2014 to 2018 and returned in November 2019 to take on the roles of music director and afternoon host. He eventually rose to assistant program director and then program director before moving to Detroit.
Co-host Shannon Rene continues in her role in the mornings.
