LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — USDA Deputy Secretary Xochitl Torres Small visited the Donna Street Community Center in North Las Vegas on Tuesday, highlighting the center’s continued efforts to invest in youth development and learning opportunities.
Thanks to a partnership with Southern University, the USDA donated laptops to the community center.
This donation is intended to support the center’s mission of providing education, services and food to underserved children.
“I got to talk to a resident that all the kids in the neighborhood are really excited about this place and that it’s open and it’s a safe place to go and learn,” Small said.
She added that the Department of Agriculture partners with after-school programs to provide free school meals, a program she hopes to expand in the area.
