Seattle Weather: Wet and windy start to Monday, more mountain snow – FOX 13 Seattle

After a fairly calm and cool November day we will see the weather warm up to start the work week. The morning will be wet with gusty winds and snow moving back into the Cascades. Dangerous waves and surf conditions will also increase along the coast.

Our next frontal system will bring heavy rain and gusty winds through Monday morning. Precipitation will begin along the coast before sunrise and reach the I-5 corridor by 8-9 am. Precipitation will change to snow after hitting the mountains, bringing heavier snowfall to the Cascades.

Snow will begin to fall in the mountains by mid-morning when snow levels drop to 3,000-4,000 feet. The heaviest snow will be in the northern Cascades, which could reach 12-18 inches by Tuesday morning. A Winter Storm Warning and Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect from early Monday morning until 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Snow levels will drop Tuesday to about 2,500′, but precipitation will also decrease, so less snow is expected. Be sure to check the latest pass conditions if you plan to travel. Stevens Pass is under a winter storm warning and Snoqualmie is under a warning.

A High Wind Advisory and Wind Advisory will be in effect Monday morning until 2:00 PM. Coastal, strait and northern inland winds may peak around 60 mph. The rest of western Washington will have gusts around 30-45 mph.

High pressure begins to build in midweek, bringing more sun and calmer conditions. The next round of lowland rain, mountain snow and cool conditions returns Friday into the weekend.
