Lewis joins Waitsfield as city treasurer – The Valley Reporter

Steve Lewis is in his second week working for the Town of Waitsfield as the new Treasurer. He replaces Randy Brittingham, who left the treasurer and grants administrator position over the summer. Lewis also replaced longtime city treasurer Sandy Gallup, who stepped in after Brittingham’s departure to help the city in the interim. For now, Lewis works 24 hours a week, but that could evolve.

Lewis and his family moved to Waitsfield from Massachusetts at the start of the school year last August. They have twins in ninth grade at Harwood Union Middle School and a third grader at Waitsfield Elementary.

“We had a house here for a few years, we came here to ski on the weekends, and we decided it was time for a change,” Lewis said, noting that he and his wife were married at the Round Barn many years ago.

Before moving to Waitsfield, Lewis sold a property management company he had founded in Massachusetts, which left him with bookkeeping/accounting and financial management skills.

He said working for the city appealed to him because he lives in Waitsfield and wants to help the community.
