SAN ANGELO, Texas (Oct. 3, 2024) – Lubbock Christian University wraps up its three-game road trip by traveling to San Angelo on Monday for a Lone Star Conference matchup with Angelo State.

The Lady Chaps are riding momentum from back-to-back 1-0 road wins over Sul Ross State and UT Tyler as they look to wrap up their road games. With an 8-5-3 overall record and 6-3-2 in Lone Star Conference play, Lubbock Christian is currently tied for fourth in the conference standings with St. Mary’s. They hold a 4-3-1 road record and are undefeated in their last two games away from Lubbock.
Angelo State leads the Lone Star Conference with a 9-1-5 overall record and an impressive 7-0-3 undefeated mark in conference play. Currently receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll, the Rambells have not lost since Sept. 12 when they were defeated 2-0 by Central Oklahoma in Edmond. They remain unbeaten at home with a record of 5-0-2. Their final game, scheduled for Friday against Sul Ross State, was canceled due to weather conditions.
From 2019 The Lady Chaps and Rambelles have met in seven games. Angelo State holds a commanding 6-0-1 advantage in the series. Angelo State has won the last five meetings, with Rambell recording a shutout in his last four games (LCU’s last goal against ASU came on Feb. 27, 2021).
Come on Spiller remains the leading offensive player for the Lady Chaps, contributing 17 points this season, which ranks her seventh in the Lone Star Conference. She is also tied to Avery Jennings for the team lead in goals, with both players scoring five times this year. Jennings and Spiller are tied for 12th and 13th in Lone Star scoring, respectively. Spiller also leads the conference in assists with seven this season. Lubbock Christian uses a rotation of goaltenders, with Megan Mirabal starting the last four games. During that stretch, she allowed three goals while making 10 saves. Notably, Mirabal has posted back-to-back shutouts in her last two starts and remains undefeated in all of her appearances this season.
The Rambells are led offensively by Abby James, who has three goals and an assist for Angelo State this season. Madison Maxey contributed two goals and three assists for Rambell, and her seven points tied her for the team lead. Seven other Rambels have scored multiple goals this season, a testament to their potent offensive prowess. Goalie Amber Lockwood is a dominant force in front of the Angelo State net. Lockwood ranked first in goals against average (.477), second in shutouts (9), second in save percentage (86.3%) and 11th in saves per game (2.93 ). In her last five starts, Lockwood has allowed five goals and had three shutout affairs.
