The Oklahoma City Thunder are off to a 6-0 start for the first time in franchise history. It’s rare for a team with such a storied history over the past decade and a half to still have first place finishes, and that’s a feat their current young core led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren can use to separate from a previous iteration that carried the Thunder’s rich history behind Kevin Durant, James Harden and Russell Westbrook.
That hot start follows a 57-win campaign a year ago in which the OKC Thunder became the youngest No. 1 seed in league history before being swept in the second round of the 2023-24 playoffs in six games by the Dallas Mavericks. However, that streak featured the Thunder’s first playoff series win since 2016.
On Kevin Garnett’s podcast, KG Certified, Garnett raves about the OKC Thunder and their depth as a team after getting off to one of the best starts in the league.
“Congratulations to OKC, man…Man, listen, they got 11 DOGS, 11 dogs, 11, I counted,” Garnett said. “They have [expletive] there by name [Aaron] Wiggins, he like a tall Shai [Gilgeous-Alexander]! Man, listen, they’ve got a doghouse over there!”
Garnett went on to explain what makes the OKC Thunder so special is their style of play, which includes the flexibility to attack defenses.
“Everyone is live on top! I don’t know who gets it, but whoever got it, he’s alive. Isaiah Joe, [Jalen Williams]Shai [Gilgeous-Alexander]it doesn’t matter. Whoever makes it to the top, he gets the wiggle, he gets the whole bag, and he gets the whole d-dun-ding,” Garnett said “[The Thunder] i got 11 [expletives] it can break you [expletive]Shouts to OKC, the new dogs, straight up.” a
