LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) – A major development is coming to improve border management and security in Laredo. A groundbreaking ceremony was held this morning for the new $286 million joint processing center. The facility aims to improve Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations.
According to US Congressman Henry Cuellar, this center will be the first joint facility in the southwestern United States. Rep. Cuellar stated, “It’s a one-stop shop for all the different agencies, primarily Homeland Security, but the immigration courts will also be under one roof.”
The expected completion date for the center is February 2027.
