LANGLEY, British Columbia — The Western Oregon men’s basketball team fell to No. 14 Cal State San Bernardino 88-68 on Sunday in the Wolves’ final game of the CCA Canadian Tip-Off Classic at the Langley Events Center.
The Wolves (0-3 overall) trailed the No. 14 Coyotes (2-1) early, trailing by as many as 20 points before closing the gap back to single digits at the 3:09 mark of the first half on Jason Gallant bucket to make it 36-27 and ended up trailing 41-32 at the half.
WE got within four of the Coyotes after a gallant jumper with 14:46 left made it 47-43. However, CSUSB went on a 24-4 run to pull away for good.
Gallant was the top scorer for the Wolves with 16 points. Brady Greer had 13 points – 9-for-10 from the line – and had a team-best six rebounds. Anjay Cortez finished with 11 points, two blocks and two steals, while LaPierre finished with six points. Macaio Morphy finished with a WOU-best three blocks.
The Wolves take the field again at 5:15 p.m. on Friday against CSUMonterey Bay in Ellensburg, Washington to begin the GNAC/CCAA Challenge.
