Chris Olave injury update: Saints star sidelined after scary head hit against Panthers – Sports News

Saints wide receiver Chris Olave left Sunday afternoon’s game against the Panthers to be evaluated for a concussion.

The injury occurred early in the game while New Orleans was driving down the field. On the first kick, Derek Carr targeted Olave in the middle of the field, but was unable to catch the pass. Olave was tackled by two Panther defenders and remained motionless on the field.

Panthers linebacker Xavier Woods was flagged for unnecessary roughness and both teams took the field for support while Olave was evaluated and assisted by the training staff.

A trolley was brought out to take Olave off the pitch. Here’s what’s known about his injury.

Chris Olave injury update

The Saints training staff brought out a backboard and a cart to transport Olave off the field. He showed movement in his limbs as he was being driven.

Olave was ruled out for the rest of the game with a concussion. He has movement in all limbs and was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.

Olave has dealt with several head injuries, missing games with concussions each of his three NFL seasons.

Olave suffered a concussion early in Week 6 of the 2024 season and missed Week 7 before returning to the field in Week 8, where he was again evaluated for a concussion before returning to action.

Olave’s brother, Josh, provided positive information about the Saints WR being “active” in hospital.

After being checked out at the hospital, Olave will return to the ballpark and return to New Orleans with the team after Sunday’s game.
