BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPRUD) – One person is dead and another is injured after a crash in the 23000 block of Greenwell Springs Road.
The Central Police Department responded to the scene around 5:40 a.m. on Thursday, October 31. Central Police Chief Roger Corcoran said it happened between JL Fairchild Road and Denham Road.
He said, “A black SUV traveling north attempted to pass an 18-wheeler in a no-passing zone and struck a pickup truck head-on.”
The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the pickup was taken to a local hospital, according to Corcoran. Police identified the deceased as Jeremiah Butler, 26.

Greenwell Springs Road between Hooper Road and Denham Road was closed but has reopened. Central Fire and EBRSO were also called to the scene of the crash.
The investigation into this crash is ongoing.
