Fremont County police dog to get body armor – The Daily Nonpareil

A Fremont County police dog receives a donated bullet and stab protection vest.

Fremont County Sheriff’s Office K9 Storm will receive the bulletproof vest from Vested Interest in K9s Inc., according to a news release. Storm’s vest is sponsored by Leah A. Beal of Oklahoma City and will be embroidered with the words “Born to Love – Trained to Serve – Always Loyal.”

The vest is expected to be delivered in about 10 weeks, the release said.

Vested Interest in K9s has provided nearly 5,800 vests to police K9s across the country. Donations are estimated at $6.9 million, raised through private and corporate donations. Each vest is valued at $1,800 and weighs between 4 and 5 pounds.
