On Saturday afternoon there was a road traffic accident between two cars on the A13 near Andeer GR. Two people died on the spot and several were injured, some of them seriously.

At 3:30 p.m., a 69-year-old driver of a car was driving from the south in the direction of Tuzis. Near Andeer GR, it veered into the oncoming lane on a long right turn. At the same time, a 43-year-old man was moving in the direction of San Bernardino. Although he steered his car into the far right emergency lane, there was a severe head-on collision between the two vehicles.
As a result of the collision, the 43-year-old’s car was lifted onto the barrier and the 69-year-old’s car was thrown back into the northbound lane. The 43-year-old southbound driver and his passenger died at the scene. A passenger in the car was transferred to the regional hospital in Tuzis by the Mittelbünden ambulance.
The 69-year-old northbound driver was transported to the cantonal hospital in St. Gallen by Alpine Air Ambulance. Her companion was taken to the cantonal hospital of Graubünden in Chur by a Chur Rescue ambulance. The two children in the 69-year-old woman’s car were also transported by Rega to the cantonal hospital in Chur. Several road rescue teams from Thenis and Andeer fire departments are working at the scene.
Traffic was diverted on the cantonment road for several hours while the accident was investigated. Together with the prosecutor’s office, the cantonal police of Graubünden are clarifying the exact circumstances that led to this traffic accident.
