The roof at State Farm Stadium is expected to open Sunday when the Arizona Cardinals host the Chicago Bears, the team said.
Fans were advised to dress appropriately for the 2:05 PM MST kickoff as temperatures began to cool following last month’s extended heat wave.
Sunday’s temperature is expected to reach a high of 71 degrees around kickoff before gradually cooling, according to the National Weather Service, which collects its data for Glendale at the municipal airport about three miles west of the ballpark.
There’s also a chance of rain in the afternoon, according to the NWS.
Sunday will be the second time the roof has been open this season and will mark back-to-back home games. It was open for the Cardinals’ 17-15 Monday Night Football victory on October 21st.
The Bears are 0-17 in true road games played on Sundays since head coach Matt Eberflus took over in 2022. However, Chicago is 3-0 all-time at State Farm Stadium.
