College Football Playoff After Week 10 – ESPN

College Football Playoff After Week 10 – ESPN

The first College Football Playoff rankings for the 2024 season will be announced Tuesday. Although we’re a month away from the final standings, several teams needed wins to stay in their respective conference races or keep their hopes of an at-large bid in the CFP alive.

The biggest game of the day – Ohio State’s loss to Penn State – was perhaps the most important in determining the Big Ten standings. Two teams, Oregon (which beat Michigan on Saturday) and Indiana (which beat Michigan State) are undefeated. Meanwhile, the Buckeyes and Nittany Lions each have one loss in the conference. Ohio State plays Indiana on Nov. 23. Penn State and Oregon will not play another ranked opponent until the end of the regular season.

Penn State wasn’t the only undefeated team to fall. Iowa State and Pittsburgh also lost. Kansas State was upset by Houston, further tainting the Big 12 race. In the ACC, Clemson was upset at home by Louisville. That leaves Miami as the only undefeated in the conference and tied atop the standings with SMU.
