Bear River, Wyoming – A mild earthquake struck near Bear River, Wyoming, on Thursday, shaking communities north of the city. The US Geological Survey (USGS) recorded the earthquake as a magnitude 2.8, originating 10.3 kilometers underground and about 9 kilometers north of the Bear River.
According to the USGS, the quake struck at 11:16 a.m. local time, sparking interest across the region. Community members were invited to share their experiences on the USGS “Did You Feel It?” platform. This initiative aims to collect data on the extent and intensity of the earthquake.
So far, three people have filed reports describing slight shaking, though no damage has been reported. The depth and moderate intensity suggest that the effects may not have been widely felt. However, local officials are encouraging residents to be familiar with safety protocols for potential aftershocks that can follow even minor seismic activity.
