Great teamwork and passing between them and some great goals scored. Rosie and Liesel were brilliant in goal and Oliver and Ellie were great up front working together.

The U10s also showed excellent teamwork. The new team members really gave it their all and it was great to see everyone working together.

A shout out to Liam who joined us this season, he brought great energy to the games and was really tenacious about getting the ball to the scoring D.

There were some fantastic passes and shots on goal from everyone, with some impressive defending. The team had mixed results but it was really good to see the team’s determination and courage to push forward, work together and have fun. A great opening tournament for the season.

The U12 girls played their first competitive games of the season in a non-development festival on October 13, facing strong teams from St Neots, Cambridge City, Cambridge South and Cambridge Juniors.

It was fantastic to welcome debutants Millie, Fleur and Alexandra to the U12 team as well as Mary and Alice who have both stepped up from the U10s.

Congratulations to Mary, who opened her goalscoring account in style with two excellent goals in the final against Cambridge South, and to Rosie, who was voted player of the match by the opposition.

And on Sunday 6th October, Ely City U14 Boys took part in a multi-team event in Cambridge.

Playing against more experienced teams from Cambridge City HC, Cambridge South, Newmarket and Cambridge Nomads, the team played some brilliant hockey, with two wins and two draws, remaining unbeaten.

The goals were split between the teams but the team spirit, great defending and creative play really shone through on the day.
