There is a strong line-up of British and international names at this year’s Cambridge Jazz Fest in November
This year Cambridge Jazz Festival packs a punch with an exceptional lineup, including a rare solo show from this month’s Jazzwise cover star Pat Metheny at Saffron Hall on 17 November. This concert is part of a varied program including jazz, blues, funk and soul 8 to November 24 with over 50 acts showcasing the best UK and international names for the 10th edition of the festival.
Alongside the headline concerts, the 2024 program includes a series of recitals, an extensive fringe programme, instrumental and vocal workshops, musician Q&As, jam sessions, family events and live painting by visual artists, Gina Southgatewhose work will be exhibited at Storey’s Field Centre, Eddington (November 8 to December 4).
Composer and trombonist, winner of many awards, Denis Rollins MBEis the festival’s Artist in Residence and appears at two events in the form of his Zero Gravity Trio (November 14, La Raza) and Dennis Rollins & CUJO (November 17, West Road Concert Hall).
Other highlights include jazz-funk stars Brand new heavy (November 8, Cambridge Corn Exchange); the best British vocalist LOBSTER plus the jazz-heavy horns of QCBA (November 16, Cambridge Corn Exchange); famous British saxophonist Tim Garland’s Lighthouse Trio with Britten Symphony (November 20, West Road Concert Hall); high profile guitarist Rob Luft and on Amika String Quartet (23 November, Cambridge Junction J2), plus concerts from Ronnie Scott’s All Stars (November 10), TC & The Groove Family (November 12), Elliott Galvin (November 15), “The Conversation” by Florian Arbenz feat. It’s Churchill, Ivo Neame, Jim Hart and Percy Purseglove (November 16) and Imogen Ryall Sings the Charles Mingus/Joni Mitchell songbook (November 22) among many other concerts.
