The week runs from 19 to 26 October and celebrates children and young people with care experience in Scotland.
Every year, in the last week of October, Scotland celebrates children and young people with care experiences and the positive impact they have on their communities, and this year’s theme is Belonging and Connecting.
During the week, North Ayrshire Council and the Health and Social Care Partnership will showcase the work being done to deliver on the commitments made in The Promise, Scotland’s review of the care system.
Councilor Chloe Robertson, North Ayrshire’s Young People’s Champion, said: “As a council, we recognize that every child and young person deserves equal opportunities to develop.
“Caring Week gives us an opportunity to reflect and celebrate the value and contribution of people with care experience, not only here in North Ayrshire, but across Scotland and beyond.”
As well as supporting national events such as the Time to Shine festival and the Love Rally 2024 in Glasgow city center on October 26, a number of events will take place locally.
There will also be a number of local events, such as a Halloween themed film night being held in Saltcoats for young people with care experience and their families on Tuesday 22nd October.
On Thursday, October 24, the Harbor Center for the Arts in Irvine will host a care-filled celebration.
The aim of the event is to celebrate the achievements of young people with care experience and highlight some great corporate parenting happening in North Ayrshire.
The evening will include a showcase of local achievements, including the work done with the Board of Champions, a group of care-experienced young people working to create change in the care system, as well as an on-stage discussion celebrating the achievements of care-experienced young people .
