Authorities have released the name of a man who was found shot to death in the middle of the street in a south Birmingham neighborhood over the weekend.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office on Tuesday identified the victim as Jordan Immanuel Davis. He was 30 and lived in Birmingham.
The discovery was made Saturday morning on 24th Avenue South, just off the busy Green Springs Expressway.
Sergeant Brian Shelton said Birmingham police officers were notified around 6:30 a.m. They arrived to find Davis unresponsive, and paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene at 6:26 a.m.
Residents told police they heard some commotion and then heard the gunshots.
No arrests have been made. The case will be presented to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office to determine if charges will be filed.
“Really any homicide is a tragedy and so our hearts go out to the family,” Shelton said Saturday. “Our investigators will be working to try and identify the family.”
Davis is the city’s 131st homicide this year. Of these, nine were determined to be valid, and another two occurred in previous years, but the victims died in 2024.
There were 165 homicides in all of Jefferson County, including 131 in Birmingham.
